*Recent Updates (Schedule of Fees and Holiday Schedule)

HICKORY HAVEN EQUESTRIAN LLC - Issued November 1, 2023

Effective November 13, 2023 the following changes will be made to the schedule:

-        There will be no lessons on Fridays. I will be offering lease rides to eligible (intermediate to advance) riders on Fridays. There will be limited spots available. Please ask for more information if interested.

-        Wednesday and Thursday lesson times will be at 4 and 5 pm ONLY. Lessons will be taught by a substitute instructor, Victoria Klembus.

-        Weekend lessons will be booked on Sundays, first. Additional lesson times will then be offered on Saturdays, IF needed.

-        Bus Drop-off will be available on Tuesdays ONLY. After the holidays, additional days will be discussed.

-        Monday morning lessons (in addition to Tuesday morning) will be offered beginning, November 20th. Morning lessons may start an hour later depending on the temperatures.

-        Wednesday though Friday afternoon feeding opportunities will be offered to lease riders, then to other riders in the program, for reduced lesson costs.

Effective November 13, 2023 the following changes will be made to the payment process:

-        Lesson balances past due beyond 2 lessons will result in a suspension of riding. This applies to “pay as you go” or pre-paid lesson plan participants. A remaining spot for that day and time can’t be guaranteed once a rider is able to return.

-        One pre-paid lesson plan may be purchased in the form of a Gift Card or credit for the holidays at the current rate up until December 14th.

-        Beginning December 15th, rates for lessons will increase by $5. Hickory Haven has been fortunate enough to have NO price increases since July 2021.  Since that time, we have maintained our rates while the business has undergone the following changes:

·       Home and facility construction and relocation

·       Acquired several new horses to accommodate the increase in rider quantity and diverse disciplines of riding offered

·       Offer horses for 4-H lease program

·       Offer discounted pre-payment options

·       Instituting a lease program

·       Additional instructor add-on for program diversity and scheduling assistance

* FEES BELOW are effective December 15, 2023 ! *

Introductory Lesson $50

Each new rider will begin their experience with an introductory ride.  Adults and school-age children will participate in an hour-long session to include an overview of grooming, tacking (preparing equipment) and/or untacking, leading the horse, and riding. During the initial ride, riders will learn the basics of halting, walking, and turning the horse.

Special needs riders and younger riders and that have not yet started school will participate in a half-hour session to assess their individual riding needs.

Introductory lessons also enable riders to learn about the lesson horses, facility, and instructors.  It is of utmost importance to Hickory Haven that families make informed decisions about where they choose to become a team. Just a warning... your little one will become horse crazy!

*Riders that have completed their introductory ride may be required to have an additional private lesson (or more) if more time is needed to review the basic riding skills before starting group lessons. Your instructor will assess your rider's needs and give recommendations at the end of your lesson.

Group Lessons $45

Group lessons are a unique experience for riders to gain horse knowledge and skills while having socialization with fellow horse enthusiasts. Rider groups are formed based on day and time needs of families, as well as criteria designed and assessed by the instructor. This includes the rider's skill level and age, horse work needs, and discipline of riding.

Riders should arrive approximately 10 minutes prior to their lesson to prepare their own gear. Riders that have been deemed competent to groom and tack lesson horses independently should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of their lesson.
